The Adamello Brenta Natural Park
This is the largest park in Trentino and covers an area of 618 square kilometres and includes the catchment areas of the river Sarca in the Genova and Nambrone valleys and the river Chiese, the Adamello and Presanella glaciers and the entire Brenta massif.
Here, on the eastern slopes of the Brenta, around the wild Valle di Tovel, the last remaining brown bears survive, a protected species that is fast disappearing in the rest of Europe.
Valleys of extraordinary beauty cut through the Park climbing to the head of the glaciers, at the foot of the limestone rock faces of the Brenta Group and the granite faces of the Adamello-Presanella: the Val Genova, Val Borzago, Valle di Tovel, Val d'Algone, Val d'Ambiez, Val Breguzzo and Val di Fumo (Visitors' Centre at Tovel).
