Winter Sport

After a walk in the snow, you deserve some relaxation under the sun

The mountains here are considered as an asset and not as a product, skiing and snowboarding are not considered as a sport activity but rather as a source of pleasure. A breath-taking view, an unending horizon, 150 km of downhill slopes, as well as cross country loops which wind around from Madonna di Campiglio, to Folgarida, to Marilleva. The mountains displaying their infinite beauty. Convenient ski-buses are also available to the guests, connecting the Camping Dolomiti Village to the skiing facilities, only 2 km away.

Located in the western part of the province of Trentino, between Lake Garda and South Tyrol, Val di Sole offers the extraordinary chance to ski at an elevation of 3000 meters. Abundant snowfalls are guaranteed due to Val di Sole’s unique geographical location and the fact that it has the highest mountains in all of the Central and Eastern Alps: the Ortles – CevedaleAdamello – Presanella mountain ranges and the Dolomites of Brenta. A fascinating environment that guarantees heavy snowfalls and exciting moments on the snow. In case that the usual snowfall is less than plentiful, the Folgarida-Marilleva, Peio and Passo Tonale winter ski areas are all equipped with snowmaking equipment that guarantee white snow on 95% of the slopes.

Nordic skiing has always been a major tradition for tourist and sportsmen alike in Val di Sole. Passo Tonale, Vermiglio, Cogolo, Ossana, Mezzana, Commezzadura, Rabbi: these towns offer cross-country skiers everything they need: well-prepared runs for every style on a total of 55 km, waxing facilities, equipment rentals, changingrooms, places where you can have a snack, ski schools, and certified ski instructors for every level. The nearest cross-country loop is located in Commezzadura, directly at the cable car start station, where we take our guests for free with our shuttle in only 2 minutes drive from the Camping Dolomiti Village.

A walk on snowshoes is truly a unique experience, that brings those that take part in this adventure back to the past when snowshoes were the only way to move about for the people living in the mountains during the winter, especially when there was a heavy snowfall.Sliding along with snowshoes on an immaculate blanket of snow, enjoying the silence of the forest, discovering the many trails left behind by animals as they move around searching for food, will allow you to feel the mountain in a different manner than how a skier does rushing down a slope.  Why not give it a try?In Val di Sole numerous excursions are organized by our Alpine Guide or by the guides of the Stelvio National Park. Get prepared to discover the best sights and paths of the area.  These types of outings do not require any particular technical preparation and the equipment can be rented here!

What about a romantic ride on a horse drawn sled! See hidden corners of the valley, enjoy the nature and its silence as you trot along, satisfy your senses with the pure and subtle fragrances of winter: riding through immaculate, natural scenery gives a feeling that can’t be missed! It will seem as if you have been brought back in time and you will feel as living in a fairy tale… More information at the horse riding centres in Pellizzano (Pressenago) 7 km away and in Cogolo at the "Hafly Company", 12 km away.
